Birthright Citizenship on trial
An ongoing issue in America, is it one that concerns Canadians too? Can illegal immigrants enter Canada, give birth to a child, and use this method as a way to gain citizenship and all it’s perks?
TRUMP enforces American laws.
Epoch Times journalists Sam Dorman published Supreme Court Poised to Grapple With Nationwide Injunctions on Trump’s Orders to inform readers of an epic battle that is taking place between the Trump Administration and the US Deep State actors who align with the Democratic National Party and its friends within the “justice” communities.
“Elbows Up” began in Canada but it now seems the strategy has been adopted by radical court justices too. 🤪
Supreme Court will hear oral arguments for the first time on May 15.
The case arises from a challenge to Trump’s birthright citizenship executive order. The hearing is unusual in that it stems from a preliminary appeal in which the Trump administration is challenging a federal judge’s use of nationwide injunctions to block the president’s agenda.
The Trump administration argues that district court judges are exceeding their authority by imposing broad blocks on government policy, rather than applying them to the parties in the lawsuit. Three lower court judges had issued nationwide injunctions blocking Trump’s policy of ending birthright citizenship for children of illegal immigrants.
With more than 100 lawsuits against Trump’s policies, lower court judges have issued a raft of nationwide injunctions halting parts of the administration’s agenda, from federal spending freezes to immigration enforcement to canceling diversity, equity, and inclusion programs.
The injunctions are highly controversial because they impose policy changes for the entire country rather than offer relief only for plaintiffs in the lawsuits, drawing scrutiny from some Supreme Court justices and members of Congress.
“These Judges want to assume the Powers of the Presidency, without having to attain 80 Million Votes. They want all of the advantages with none of the risks,” the president wrote in a March post on Truth Social.
Do Catholics agree?
Freshly anointed Pope Leo XIV holds controversial views on immigration among other matters of public policy. In his own words…
“I was born in the United States… But my grandparents were all immigrants, French, Spanish… I was raised in a very Catholic family.”
While serving in Peru, Prevost showed concern for Venezuelan migrants, with over 1.5 million of them in the country. Jesus Leon Angeles, a Peruvian Catholic group coordinator, said, “He had always shown care for Venezuelan migrants in Peru.”
Leo also criticised the Trump administration’s immigration policies. He retweeted a post condemning the deportation of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, asking: “Do you not see the suffering? Is your conscience not disturbed? How can you stay quiet?”
He also shared an op-ed from the National Catholic Reporter titled, “JD Vance is wrong: Jesus doesn’t ask us to rank our love for others,” challenging the Vice President’s Fox News comment that love should be prioritized from family to fellow citizens before others.
Compassion and the law.
No one wants to see others suffer except maybe for sadists
The reason that religion and politics don’t mix is that it’s easy for religious leaders to preach love and compassion whereas political leaders must respond to the demands of an electorate that demands safety under the rule of secular laws.
Catholics are voters too.
I wonder how many follow the laws of the church over the laws of the state.‼️
