CASEL- A Bell Ringer for all Teachers!
WOKE is endemic in today's schools. Parental protests and hand-wringing are unable to remove it of stop its pernicious indoctrination of our youth. Is CASEL largely to blame?
For whom the bell tolls? How about our children!
Before today, I had never heard of the Collaborative for Advancing Social Emotional Learning (CASEL). The linked discussion between Ben Shapiro and James Lindsay rang major alarm bells for me regarding its steadily-growing influence on modern culture through our schools.
During this podcast episode: ‘James Lindsay | The Rise of Wokeness in schools....’ reveals CASEL to be aseemingly benign organization which promotes a pedagogy. If true, it should concern the parents of every student attending government schools. At the very least, every parent should become aware of CASEL, its stated goals, sources of funding and its lobbying activities.
Dr. James Lindsay is an author, mathematician, cultural critic and founder of New Discourses, a site dedicating to “pursuing the light of objective truth in subjective darkness.” In today’s episode, we discuss Lindsay’s new book “The Marxification of Education," the cult of critical theory and the “long slow march through institutions'' that corrupted the educational system by political activists masquerading as teachers, and how we can ultimately reclaim our schools.
Why does this matter?
Virtually every day, I hear stories of parental concerns with the current state of public schools and their preoccupation with a variety of “WOKE” social causes. Traditionally, the primary mandates of schools were to teach “the 3 Rs - reading, writing and arithmetic’, and to graduate enough students in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) to meet the growing demand for knowledge workers in the many specialized fields of the modern Economy.
CASEL seems hard at work to raise “social engineering” to Education’s highest priority while sacrificing traditional teaching mandates.
Professor Lindsay presents evidence that CASEL is a small group of persistent Marxist ideologues who have mounted a decades-long assault on Western culture by carrying out a long-term strategy to infiltrate and influence from within some of our most important institutions. Their goal is to undermine society’s traditional values and gradually supplant them with Marxist values. It’s a multigenerational undertaking.
For me, Dr. Lindsay’s narratives are compelling. They answer many previously-mystifying questions about the people and forces behind the spread of wokeness in government Education. What surprised me most is how few people it takes to exert a significant impact on bureaucratic and political institutions with a good plan and effective execution!
