CHINA. What’s the truth?
After listening to two hours of a French citizen’s personal experience as a business entrepreneur working in China and married to a Chinese citizen, I no longer know what to believe about China.
A positive view of China.
A negative view of China.

Opposing narratives.
The podcast interview and the Epoch Times article portray China in a very different light.
Arnaud Bertrand makes China sound like a great place to live and work. He also describes Western journalism as untrustworthy, often misrepresenting the truth. As a citizen of France who has lived in several countries before settling in China a decade ago, I found his perspective about China’s economy and culture worth taking seriously. He has the huge advantage of living like a native because of his marriage to his Chinese wife. In spite of being the only non-Asian in their circle, he is completely trusted and accepted by her family and broader community.
By comparison, most Western journalists write their articles by researching their topic from a laptop and by phone calls with various contacts. Regarding China, the lack the deep first hand experience that Arnaud possesses. Consequently, I question the credibility of stories like the linked Epoch Times articles about the CCP and the Falun Gong.
Time worth spending.
I hope at least a few of you take the time to listen to this two hour podcast interview. I guarantee you that your future reading of Western journalism about topics related to China may never again be the same.
I do understand about listening to both sides of the story Gene. The Epoch Times was set up by Asians who fled China I believe. The CCP has quashed many stories from getting out about their human organ harvesting enterprise, especially with the Falun Gong. I remember hearing and reading about how they have quietly infiltrated Hollywood, Academia and other high ranking political positions where the put a lot of pressure on those who wanted to distribute information regarding this specifically. The social credit score system has been implemented there already as a way to control their people. They are shamed and alienated from friends and family if they have views that oppose gov. To me, as a Canadian, these views are all opposite to what I have grown up with and loved about our country. Now I see that this is what is being pushed on all countries and what the WEF wants us all to emulate. Also, friends of ours took a trip to China and on the tours they were always escorted by many tour guides, and were NOT allowed to interact with the Chinese people. They were only allowed to see what the Chinese wanted them to see. I do respect your opinion Gene, but I don't believe I want Canada or the rest of the world to be like them.
