CREATION, REALITY & MIND episode #8 - No two minds are identical.
REALITY: one’s perceived field of consciousness composed of Articons and articons. CREATION results from the consilience of familiar and unfamiliar Articons and articons interacting.
When minds diverge.
This discussion between Dr. Jordan Peterson and Richard Dawkins showcases how different the realities can be between two beings of consciousness each with their unique life lens.
Peterson is a biblical scholar and psychologist.
Jordan perceives the most profound and meaningful aspects of his reality to be found in stories, particularly biblical stories.
Dawkins is a renowned atheist and philosopher.
As a self-proclaimed “cultural Christian”, Richard is very familiar with the Bible and its influence in Western cultures but he contests the validity of its stories. To him, they are fiction, not based on fact. .
Dawkins had the upper hand in the discussion.
Whenever Richard asked any question of Jordan that required proof, the psychologist sidestepped the question to present a vaguely related argument based solely on theories and archetypal anecdotes.
Dawkins thinks in terms of science and physical reality. Nothing is real to him unless it can be verified factually and/or scientifically.
The recorded biblical stories of distant past civilizations only exist as unsubstantiated fictions which were passed down through history as allegories and folklore.
This fact does not “cut it” for Richard as verifiable.
It is impossible, for example, to verify the biblical claims that Jesus is the product of a virgin birth, or that God created the heavens and earth in six days and rested on the seventh.
Let’s change the paradigm shall we?
In the metaphysical Reality of ArtiCons and articons that I propose, the perceptions of both Peterson and Dawkins represent their “Truth”. Each man has a unique Life Lens with which to observe and co-create the metaphysical realities they perceive individually. Of course, perception is a faculty of mind. (Note: I believe the mind exists metaphysically and is thereby separate from the physical human brain).
NOTE: From past Substack posts in this series, recall that ArtiCons are ‘artifacts of consciousness’ that compose all elements of perceived reality universally; articons are the ‘artifacts of consciousness’ perceived within one’s personal field of awareness in the present: they interact in each mind with ArtiCons continually. Consilience is the interaction between both which leads to the creation of new ArtiCons at the universal level and “personal” articons manifest in the mind of each individual being of consciousness.
Agreement and mutual understanding.
Peterson believes that two people engaged in discussion concerning a subject in which they hold diverse understandings and opinions will be able to find “common ground” upon which to agree. He believes that such exchanges can lead to more agreement than disagreement. I agree:
… the intermingling and serious consideration of thoughts and feelings during inter-personal exchanges is how consilience works to develop new shared perspectives and understandings.
As a professional psychologist, Jordan has had decades of experience helping others to uncover and heal inner conflicts by bringing them “into the healing light of conscious awareness and examination”. This is a strength of Jordan.
Geo-political consilience is desperately needed.
With wars raging on actual battlefields as well as on fields of ideas, beliefs, dogma, and ideology, the pursuit of ‘common ground’ appears to be of low priority by people in public leadership.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, for example, famously refused to meet the leaders and participants of the Trucker Convoy who occupied Ottawa for weeks during the freezing winter days of early 2022 . They had a right to protest peacefully over Trudeau’s authoritarian pandemic policies which he ultimately denied with a trumped up Emergencies Act declaration.
I consider Justin’s profound failure of leadership during the Trucker Convoy episode to be the most despicable and cowardly moment of his nearly ten years in office.
It is sure to be one of his many failures that the voting public won’t let him forget in the next election.
REALITY and CREATION aren’t what they seem.
Both Peterson and Dawkins are deeply invested in the idea that every aspect of human existence occurs within a physical “universe” composed of trillions upon trillions of atoms in an endless array of configurations.
I wonder how their conversation would have proceeded if framed in the metaphysical paradigm I describe as an infinite field of Consciousness composed of ArtiCons and articons actively engaged in constant communication and creativity.
Would Jordan and Richard have reached a higher degree of mutual understanding made possible through consilience?
