CS Lewis’ Concerns About Science
This short video puts Science under the microscope of critical analysis.
CS Lewis expressed legitimate concerns
Clive Staples Lewis (1898 – 1963) was a British writer and lay theologian who held academic positions in English literature at both Oxford and Cambridge universities. Lewis observed with increasing concern that the use of Science by self-proclaimed elites had begun to exceed acceptable boundaries of human ethics, morality and good governance.
“The Science” in ascension.
“The Science” was a phrase used often by politicians, public officials and the media to claim supreme authority to back their pandemic public policies decisions since early 2020. Anyone who chose to question their proclamations and decisions were accused of heresy - of being “anti-Science”. Politicians, elected by “the people”, and unelected public officials have all genuflected before the high priests of The Science. They faithfully did the bidding of those elites like Dr. Tam in Canada and Dr. Fauci in America. The elected politicians in particular fell in line behind the dictates of public health officials allegedly on behalf of the majority of our citizens who granted them that authority at election polls.
There was a time when God was considered the supreme authority for all humanity. The institutions of religion have proliferated throughout two millennia and infused human cultures throughout time and space to make sure that no one every forgot who was in charge.
Information Technology and Science merged to become “The Science”
The Age of the Internet, social media and non-stop corporate broadcasting have been the disrupting forces that now exert much greater influence on the consciousness of every living person than the physical structures of churches, synagogues and mosques. Religion is in decline. Secularism, led by The Science, has been in ascension. This first became glaringly evident after Al Gore release of The Inconvenient Truth. That movie launched, in the name of a scientific consensus, the political mission of Climate Change alarmists into the stratosphere of public awareness. “The Science” elites have since pulled out all stops to foist pandemic and climate fear campaigns on humanity to control everyone as religion had done before it.
Will “The Science” survive?
Will “The Science” eventually face the same fate as God and religion sometime in the future when another deity supersedes it? Was Friedrich Nietzsche right when he proclaimed:
“God is dead. God remains dead. And we have killed him. How shall we comfort ourselves, the murderers of all murderers? What was holiest and mightiest of all that the world has yet owned has bled to death under our knives: who will wipe this blood off us? What water is there for us to clean ourselves? What festivals of atonement, what sacred games shall we have to invent? Is not the greatness of this deed too great for us? Must we ourselves not become gods simply to appear worthy of it?”
