Danielle Smith is Canada’s Ron DeSantis!
The Canadian Constitution is a national asset that fails to protect our citizens. A “corporate raid” on Ottawa is needed to restructure and rebalance the powers of sovereign authority across Canada.
Government Restructuring
In the 1970s and 1980s, I recall stories of corporate raiders who earned great wealth for their ability to take control of large companies that had seen better days. When corporate share prices drop significantly, as they have in the past year for Twitter and Facebook, it’s a reflection that the broader community of investors has lost confidence in the Board of Directors and the corporate executive team to direct the business to achieve its most profitable interests. Raiders like Elon Musk buy up the corporate shares (usually at a cheap price) with the goal of “righting the ship” to return it to a new path to growth. This is done by corporate restructuring (layoffs and reorganization of reporting structures), replacing poor performers (Musk fired the entire Board and assigned people he knows and trusts), infusions of capital into the most promising business lines, and selling off assets that no longer show promising future returns.
Restructuring in government has different challengers than corporate restructuring.
Alberta’s new Premier, Danielle Smith, is Canada’s equivalent to the very popular Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. While not a corporate raider by profession, Ron has had the same positive impact on Florida as the most successful corporate raiders of the past have had on their projects. The Governor has executed his own political version of corporate restructuring by working the assets under his command - legislation, the public purse and the support of the majority of citizens. Under DeSantis’ leadership, Americans have been moving to Florida in record numbers to escape the failed leadership of states like New York, Michigan and many more.
Does the DeSantis approach to leadership work? The conventional wisdom says :“You can’t argue with success”. In the recent US midterm election, Ron received the ‘vote of confidence’ from Floridians with the largest margin of victory by any elected Governor in America.
Under Premier Danielle Smith, Alberta has the chance to repeat Ron DeSantis’ success. She can restore Alberta to its former glory as one of the best in Canada to live, work and raise a family.
However, it will not be easy.
Smith is entering an epic fight with Ottawa and facing that slimy, conniving misfit of a Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau. I have long ago stopped underestimating Trudeau for his ability to stymy any initiative that does not fit with his globalist playbook and his authoritarian misuse of power.
Fortunately, Danielle Smith is NOT YOUR AVERAGE POLITICIAN as you will see and hear in her conversation with Jordan Peterson.
“Stop the spread” does not apply to the ‘sovereignty epidemic’ that the Truckers started!
I am an Ontario resident who cheered on the Truckers’ Convoy this year and who is now cheering for Danielle Smith and her bid for greater Alberta sovereignty. I will watch her with great interest as she works the levers of political power to restore the ability of Albertans to manage their own destiny without the heavy hand of Ottawa interfering constantly.
I am also hopeful that the next federal election in Canada will produce a majority Conservative Government under Pierre Poilievre. Both Pierre and Danielle have displayed their respect for, and support of, The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. This bodes well for constructive discussions between them.
Danielle Smith cannot win this battle alone. It will take the support of every Canadian to get behind her cause and “increase the spread” of the sovereignty epidemic from coast to coast to coast.
ONTARIO Charter of Rights and Freedoms
I hope for a ‘sovereignty epidemic’ to break out across Canada under Danielle’s courageous efforts. There are already signs that Saskatchewan is getting ready to spread the “sovereignty virus” too. I would like to see this for Ontario too.
Last year, I modified the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms to create an Ontario Charter of Rights and Freedoms which reflects the Four Principles of a Civil Society: Individual Freedom, Personal Responsibility, Respect and Fairness. I did this to kick off discussions in Ontario for greater sovereignty in this province. Like Danielle, I wish to put up legislative barriers to stop and reverse the excessive growth of federal government powers that have continually eroded the sovereignty of every individual resident in this province.
