Digital Direct Democracy, episode #1
I have enlisted the help of BING Copilot to take parts of my Amazon Kindle ebook by this name and summarize its ideas into a series of 10 episodes. Each are readable in a few minutes.
The Influence of Global Actors in the Digital Era
In today's interconnected world, global actors are wielding significant influence across various domains and nations. One notable phenomenon is the emergence of what some term "Digital Communism." To understand this concept, let's delve into its key aspects.
Defining Digital Communism
Digital Communism is the consolidation of ownership and control over essential services using the diverse capabilities of current and emerging digital technologies. It's akin to the traditional communist model only far more robust and comprehensive. It extends beyond the physical means of production to encompass all digital infrastructure and the services it enables.
Operating typically as monopolies, Digital Communism is overseen by central government authorities in collaboration with corporations with significant regional and global reach. ‘Corporatism’, ‘Crony Capitalism’ and modern ‘Fascism’ are terms often used to reference these public-private partnerships (PPP). These collaborations are nearly everywhere you look.
Monopolies in Today's Governments
Government institutions worldwide operate monopolies involving PPPs in critical sectors:
Education: Public schools and universities hold a monopoly on formal education in collaboration with public sector labour unions.
Healthcare: State-run healthcare systems dominate the medical industry in Canada. Labour, pharmaceuticals, and equipment suppliers also factor into the PPP operating model.
Law Enforcement and Judiciary: The legal system, including police and courts, operates as a government monopoly. Lawyers are essential PPP actors too.
Financial Sector: Canada's federal government exercises control over the financial sector, including the money supply, interest rates, and debt issuance through the Bank of Canada. Accounting professionals also owe their existence to PPP processes and regulations.
Security and Surveillance: Digital IDs are the least of our concerns when one considers the many ways that our actions and interpersonal exchanges are being monitored today.
Media: Nearly all major media organizations fall under government influence for the purpose of shaping public opinion and more. Some call this news and information; others call it “propaganda”.
Environmental Policies: Government agencies regulate environmental and climate-related matters for both admirable and sinister purposes.
Banking System: Canada's entire banking system operates as a monopoly, leaving business owners and wage earners with few viable alternatives.
Challenges and Distrust
While advocates of these monopolies claim that they provide stability and uniformity for citizens and businesses, they almost never acknowledge the many disadvantages. To name just a few:
Lack of competition stifles the innovation and responsiveness typically found in entrepreneurial, for-profit enterprises.
Those individuals who distrust or dislike the centralized control of PPP monopolies experience difficulty in finding viable alternatives.
Business owners and wage earners often feel disadvantaged and trapped within this system. Taxes and regulations are often an excessive and inescapable burden.
To summarize the above, the convergence of digital technologies and government/PPP monopolies has given rise to a form of Digital Communism that is steadily shape-shifting our societies and economies. As we navigate this landscape, it becomes crucial to discover and strike a balance between one-size-fits-all government regulations, economic efficiencies and individual agency.
Canada's Future: Concerns and Considerations
In the ever-evolving landscape of Canadian politics, concerns about the leadership of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau have grown steadily. Several factors contribute to these concerns and it helps to explore and understand them.
Admiration for China
Trudeau's expressed admiration for China has raised eyebrows often. His views on China's policies and actions has drawn criticism, especially given revelations about Chinese alleged interference in past Canadian federal elections that appear to have favour him. The Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) has reported instances of China meddling in electoral processes, a matter that certainly warrants scrutiny.
World Economic Forum Membership
Trudeau's long-standing membership with the World Economic Forum (WEF) since 2011 has not gone unnoticed. Jagmeet Singh and Chrystia Freeland are also members. Freeland, Canada’s Minister of Finance and Deputy Prime Minister, sits on the WEF Board of Governors which begs the question of whether a conflict of interest exists between her ficuciary duties to Canada and the WEF.
The WEF's influence on Canada’s economic policies has been evident when its slogans have appeared in Trudeau's public speeches and his unquestioning loyalty to the United Nations and commitment its 17 Sustainable Development Goals and to the stated objectives of the Paris Climate Accord.
While engagement with international organizations is necessary for a national leader, questions arise when alignment with Canada’s interests is not apparent given that these globalist influences are so obvious.
Liberal Caucus Decisions and NDP Backing
Trudeau's Liberal caucus has made decisions that have faced much criticism. These choices, often supported by socialist New Democratic Party (NDP) MPs in Parliament, were not presented to Canadian voters during elections. And yet, we are expected to trust these elected ‘representatives of the people’.
Transparency and accountability are crucial to the success of a democratic system of governance. Citizens have a right to demand accurate information, consideration and clarity on all significant policy directions.
Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) and Surveillance Systems
Coming to Canada is a CBDC system whether Canadians want one or not. In the hands of trustworthy leaders, many benefits may be possible, but trust is the issue. Knowing Trudeau’s admiration for China, it's no surprise that stories of China's extensive surveillance networks abound. When combined with a Social Credit system used to control citizens’ choices and bevaviours, this is a topic of ongoing trepidation and concern for many Canadians.
An alleged climate change crisis provides the political rationale to control human consumption patterns. These are to be manipulated by reward-punishment mechanisms powered by AI algorithms and data captured over trillions of digital transactions within the CBDC network.
Like Pavlov’s dog, will humanity eventually become so well-trained so as to behave exactly according to it's masters’ wishes?
Forewarned Is Forearmed
Regardless of personal opinions, it's prudent to stay informed. While some may dismiss these concerns as conspiracy theories, others appreciate being aware.
As responsible citizens, we should engage in open dialogue, consider diverse viewpoints, and discuss the big ideas that are likely to shape our collective future.
In this episode, the convergence of global influences, technological advancements, and some policy decisions which demand vigilance have been discussed. There is more to come in future episodes.
