Effectiveness of masks - Cochrane study
‘Physical interventions to interrupt or reduce the spread of respiratory viruses.’ Published January 2023.
This research paper in currently in discussion by various alternative media podcasters. I learned about it from Dr. John Campbell on YouTube.

One conclusion stood out…
There is uncertainty about the effects of face masks. The low to moderate certainty of evidence means our confidence in the effect estimate is limited, and that the true effect may be different from the observed estimate of the effect.
Harms associated with physical interventions were under‐investigated.
There is a need for large, well‐designed RCTs addressing the effectiveness of many of these interventions in multiple settings and populations, as well as the impact of adherence on effectiveness, especially in those most at risk of ARIs (acute respiratory infections from any virus).
I point this out because…
Our public health officials pressured everyone to wear masks during the pandemic.
Given the resources available to governments (money, people, researchers, etcetera) who was no money spent on proper research (RCTs) on the efficacy of marks?
The last sentence of the quoted passage is the point of this post. The priorities of our elected representatives and unelected public officials have been ass-backward. Their mask dictates were not backed by either scientific research or the enormous amount of information known by our medical profession —> masks are ineffective to stop the spread of viruses; they should never have been imposed on young, healthy people, especially children.
