Facebook cannot use my personal data.

I have often heard it said that Facebook users are not Facebook customers, but the Facebook product that collects personal information and sells it to advertisers, both corporate and governments.

In January, 2022, Facebook froze my account for 30 days after its “fact-checkers” claimed that I abridged their corporate rules of use. I used that 30-day Facebook vacation productively and started publishing on Substack under the title ‘My Life Lens’. Since then, I have posted over 280 My Life Lens essays and fewer than 10 on Facebook.

Today, August 26, 2023, I posted the following message on Facebook. It has been circulating among Facebook users and came to me through a friend. Most users know that Facebook uses our personal information to generate revenues by selling those data to advertisers of products and services who seek to bombard us with their online ads. I don’t know if this statement carries any weight legally, but I see no reason not to post it.

Notice to Facebook.

Remember, tomorrow starts the new Facebook rule (aka... new name META) where they can use your pics. Dont forget the deadline is today!!!

I do not give Facebook, or any entities associated with Facebook, permission to use my pictures, information, messages or publications, past and future. With this statement, I notify Facebook that it is strictly forbidden to disclose, copy, distribute or take any other action against me based on this profile and/or its contents. The violation of privacy can be punished by law.

You can copy and paste this version if you prefer. If you do not publish a statement at least once it will be tacitly allowing the use of your photos, as well as the information contained in your profile and status updates.

This will bypass the (Facebook censorship) system....

Apparently users of Facebook who do nothing to protect their personal information from exploitation by Facebook, tacitly agrees to let them do so. The onus is on YOU to take action to protect your information under Canada’s privacy laws.

I used that 30-day Facebook “vacation” productively, opened a Substack account, and started publishing on Substack under the title ‘My Life Lens’. Since then, I have posted over 280 My Life Lens essays and fewer than 10 on Facebook.

As a Canadian citizen, who is subject to the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, I claim my right to Free Speech and Freedom of Association. As such, I understand that I am free to boycott any organization that operates under corporate rules which oppose the spirit and fact of the Canadian Constitution.

Substack respection the Canadian Constitution.

I pledge to continue writing on Substack as long as it offers a censorship free platform.
