Fence sitting in the Middle East.
Have you picked a side in the Israeli-Palistine war? If so, read what Dr. Mattias Desmet has to say about the conflict.
Confessions of an information junkie.
I have listened to many podcasts and read several opinion articles concerning the Israeli-Palistine war. My preferred podcast hosts include American historian Dr. Tom Woods, Toronto-based veteran journalist Trish Wood, Austrain Economics textbook author Dr. Saeffidean Ammous, and the much celebrated former New York Times reporter Bari Weiss. The podcast guests are always people with impressive credentials and who possess perspectives and facts concerning the Gaza conflict that are well-informed.
The famous veteran journalist Seymour Hersh has also been one of my ‘go to’ information sources; he had written some insightful essays on Substack. There are others that I admire too, almost all are on Substack these days.
My problem is…
My own perspective on the crisis has flip-fopped more than once after listening to one of those podcasts or reading a compelling article.
Every writer, guest and host possesses his or her own personal Life Lens on any topic, including war.
Their informed views and compelling arguments often influence mine.
I admire Mattias Desmet’s viewpoint.
From his Nietszche In Israel essay, I have come to one unshakeable conclusion.
There is no point in picking sides.
WAR is EVIL.
Anyone who voluntarily acts to promote and/or carry out the killing or maiming of another human being, especially the innocents, is a willing participant in that evil.
You may conclude that Dr. Desmet and I are taking a cop-out position - that of fence sitting. You may also argue that this stance cannot lead to a satisfactory resolution to the war. My counter argument is…
War is always initiated and sustained by politicians and their crony relationships with malevolent people of immence power and money.
The interests of average citizens are never factored into the choice for war.
There is only one side to take in this conflict - THE SIDE OF INNOCENTS - THE SIDE OF HUMANITY.
This is what I wrote as a comment after reading Matthias' Substack, prior to reading the rest of yours Gene.
Maybe my viewpoint is too simple. I don't wish to pick a side, other than the side of humanity and allowing all the innocents to survive the wars and those evil decisions of the created wars and factions to enrich the otherwise already powerful bankers, governments, NGO's and controllers at the top of the pyramid who are pushing for war on all sides.
Seeing innocent people suffer, regardless of creed, nationality, or race at the hands of powerful people making decisions where they have no stake in the game in terms of their own lives is evil and inhumane. What has happened to people? We have lost our connection to GOD, to LOVE....we keep making the same mistakes over and over again and nothing ever changes...this is INSANITY.
We are all in an evil simulation and it is there to keep us all divided instead of united.
WE ALL NEED TO UNITE IN OUR CONSCIOUSNESS for PEACE to happen, GLOBALLY. I don't wish to engage in debate with others. These comments are my humble opinion.
