Government Venture Capitalists!?

Are Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy to be the world’s first Government Venture Capitalists and head of the first American Department of Government Efficiency (D.O.G.E)?

“Vulture Capitalism”

Venture Capitalists are sometimes called pejorative terms that people might use to describe venture capitalists, often reflecting negative perceptions or criticisms. Examples:

• Vulture Capitalist: This term suggests that venture capitalists prey on struggling companies, similar to how vultures feed on carcasses.

• Corporate Raider: This implies aggressive tactics to take over companies, often associated with hostile takeovers.

• Shark: This term can imply ruthless or predatory behavior in business dealings.

There is no point in sugarcoating what VCs do. They buy failing businesses at bargain prices; install strong leaders with the skill, talent and authority to take the “sow’s ear” and transform it into a “silk purse”; then the put them back on the market at a premium price as viable market competitors. This is how VCs earn big profits from their efforts.

Will Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy downsize, streamline and establish a sustainable governance structure for national public services, then sell it back to the American people in four years as a “great” instrument of national and international leadership - much greater than when they found it?

Is D.O.G.E the key instrument to MAGA?

Will its success restore the lost faith and trust in America?

HOW?

Musk famously stated that he expects to eliminate $2 Trillion from the Federal Government’s annual budget of $6.5 Trillion.

Since a huge portion of that budget goes to pay the wages, benefits and pensions of many hundreds of thousands of people employed in public services, a major Payroll scalping is inevitable.

Powerful labour unions will likely watch their powers melt like an ice cube in sunshine.

Supply contracts to government agencies will the snipped and trimmed to fit the new reality.

Entire office buildings and much of their contends will need to be sold off as the government workforce dwindles or is realigned to new ways of getting things done efficiently and effectively.

To me, this is an optimistic outlook.

To those who face the changes described above, a knot is likely forming in the pit of their stomachs. To them I say:

Welcome to the reality that the private sector faced during Covid under draconian public policies and enforcement.

AND welcome to the realities of the Digital Economy that every ‘for profit’ business owner and employee has faced for a long time.

I don’t want to be mean-spirited about this, but it is about time that everyone accepts the forces of change equally, fairly and with personal responsibility.
