Trump won in a landslide. Can Poilievre do the same?

A failed political strategy.
The Democrats relied on Entertainment stars to influence young voters but the majority of age 18-29 voters were not buying it. Another recent report released by the Epoch Times found that young females voters overwhelmingly supported Harris, which means that young men account mostly for the Trump gains.
The Democrats now know that fewer young voters, particularly men, could be so easily swayed by fame, glitz or glamour than previously thought.
Does this signify a shift in American political culture? Will the DNC strategists adopt a belief that policy trumps fame, glitz and glamorous among young voters when choosing a national leader? If so, what a refreshing change!
The Big Mistake
The DNC’s misguided political strategy, which emerged during the Obama years, had been exposed as “The Big Mistake”.
The Democratic Leadership had assumed that American voters are stupid.
The DNC placed their faith and campaign finance in the belief that voters are easily manipulated by propaganda and Public Relations strategists who miscalculated the professed powers of corporate media conglomerates.
The winning strategy
Trump made numerous appearances on podcasts with big name hosts like Joe Rogan and Jordan Peterson. Harris did none.
When you live inside a ‘glitz and glamor’ fishbowl, all you can see is glitz and glamour fish swimming around you.
A California native, home of Hollywood and Big Tech, Kamala Harris lives inside such a fish bowl. Her predecessor, Joe Biden, spent far too much time hiding in his basement.
Canada needs a Trump Moment.
There was a time when a young, handsome and relatively unknown Justin Trudeau could be packaged by his handlers and Corporate Media as the “next best thing since sliced bread”. That was 2015. Since then, the bread has been burnt to a crisp in the ‘toaster of time’ that is Canadian federal politics.
Hopefully, millions of young voters who were enamoured by Trudeau version 2015 have lost their taste for marmalade on burnt toast.
I am a Libertarian in my espoused wishes for a future Canadian society. However, I am also a pragmatic voter who will vote Conservative where conditions warrant it. Both Pierre Poilievre and Jamie Schmale, my local MP, are Libertarian-Conservatives in my personal assessment. They have a shot at winning a robust majority Conservative government in Ottawa and, while this is not my ideal election outcome, it sure beats any of the federal Liberal or NDP/Bloc/Green coalition alternatives.
After a 36-year career as a professional recruiter who has interviewed over 10,000 job candidates, I pride myself in reading candidate resumes in relation to the required qualifications and experience to perform successfully in job. I also developed good instincts for assessing the character of candidates I interviewed. This doesn’t make my judgement infallible, but it has imbued me with a degree of personal confidence in the political choices I make.
I have not interviewed Pierre Poilievre and cannot vouch for his character. I have learned from a past private meeting with Stephen Harper that the political figures I see in the public media can be very different than the person you see in one-on-one conversations in a private setting. That said, I can only go on the policy statements expressed by Poilievre over a variety of public communications modalities.
Unfortunately, I am at the same disadvantage as the vast majority of Canadian voters, a weakness in our political environment to which I frequently refer to as “political theatre”.
Character is hard to fake.
Joe Rogan had a 3 hour conversation with Donald Trump.
In a situation like that, most people can present themselves in a “managed” way to put forth their best qualities for a half hour but it’s nearly superhuman to do this for three hours.
Willing American voters were very fortunate to have this opportunity to witness Trump under more casual conditions before the POTUS election.
I hope that Joe Rogan will also interview Justin Trudeau and Pierre Poilievre over the next year before the 2025 Canadian federal election.
It’s high time that Canadian voters are treated to a serious assessment of the men who aspires to be Prime Minister.

I am not really a good judge of character, often giving people the benefit of any doubt that may arise. But I have to say I was watching Andrew Coine (I hope I spelled that correctly) on CBC Thursday night panel 10 years ago commenting on Trudeau becoming the Liberal Party leader. I was STUNNED that he could even think for a moment this EMPTY VESSEL would in any way be good for Canada. OUR DEAR LEADER had neon signs of insincerity, vacuousness, lack of seriousness, lack of intelligence and nothing going for him other than his last name FLASHING BRIGHTLY. Trudeau was in no way qualified to lead ANYTHING and certainly not Canada. How did I seem to know this when PROFESSIONALS and EXPERTS could not see this? I have no idea. Sometimes I think it is willful blindness and strict adherence to THE CULT. I am embarrassed for the women thar fawned over this little jerk, who turned out to be a major destroyer of this country.
