James Topp is a Hero.
Where is the media coverage and public recognition from our Canadian leaders?
CBC Boycotts Canadian Hero Story.
Canadian taxpayers gave $1.2 Billion to CBC to save it from bankruptcy because everyone knows that it can’t survive on voluntary payments from citizens.
Break up the CBC into its component parts and sell them off to the market. Use the proceeds to pay down the debt. If they are unwilling to keep us informed about the sacrifices of heroic citizens like James Topp, they don’t deserve our help!
End all media subsidies immediately.
Any media organization that can’t survive on the quality of its journalism does not deserve our tax dollars. Justin Trudeau and his Liberal party have established corrupt relationships with the most powerful media organizations in the land. These “captured” corporations are obliged to sing the praises of our government and shield it from our scrutiny and criticism using our own tax dollars and legislation.
Cancel “fact-checkers” on the Internet.
Canadians must establish a system of escalating fines and other forms of punishment to stop the “fact-checking” that has repeatedly violated the freedom of speech of our citizens. Let’s s start by giving any “fact-checker” a warning for the first offence of deleting any citizen’s post on social media. For a second violation, issue a modest fine payable to the author of the canceled post and require a public apology. A third violation must be met with a much steeper fine and a criminal conviction for violating another citizen’s Charter rights. These measures should put all “fact-checkers” out of business quickly.
Hold elected MP and MPP representatives to the truth.
Apply a similar punishment system as the “fact-checker” model above in order to hold elected and non-elected officials to issuing only true statements to the public.
If caught making false statements, the escalating system of fines and charges must apply solely to the person caught lying to the public. A Citizen Court (no government personnel allowed) would be convened to hear the charges and determine the facts. This will encourage every public official to know and state only the facts before issuing public statements.
Finally, any omissions from reporting important news that is clearly in the interests of Canadians must be treated in the same manner as a lie. This must apply to major media organizations and elected officials who receive any form of compensation or subsidy from taxpayers. The walk across Canada by James Topp is clearly a Canadian human interest story on at least the same scale as the Terry Fox story in our history. Mr. Topp’s trek follows on the heels of the single largest protest event in Canadian history - the Truckers’ For Freedom convoy.
May this photo of James Topp become a national emblem!
This image is the ideal symbol to represent the desire of millions of Canadians who expressed their alarm and disgust for the way the Prime Minister of Canada and the Premier of Ontario brazenly maligned and mistreated thousands of brave men and women.
Our truck drivers were essential workers who keep our economy from collapsing during 2020-22.
All front line nurses and other health workers were also essential and courageously treated the ill and vulnerable during the worst months of the pandemic.
These people, and many more, were our national heroes at a time when most of our elected officials and public servants revealed themselves as privileged cowards who hid in safety and comfort at taxpayers expense.
Fairness and Respect is a myth under Canada’s class system
In a true Democracy, every person must be held equally and fairly accountable to unbiased laws. However, too many of our citizens who are employed in the public sector enjoy privileges that at not available to everyone. Under the influence of powerful public sector unions and electoral systems that encourage politicians to “buy votes” with taxpayers’ own money, there is no “equality” between private and public sector workers.
“Respect is earned, not given” - Thomas-Edward. This quote seems like common sense to me but, evidently, not for everyone. Some people behave as if fame or positions of privilege must automatically confer respect to persons with those advantages whether they were earned, or not.
In my view, respect is a “two way street”. Mutual respect is possible only if the rules of conduct within a civil society apply equally to everyone without undeserved prejudice.
Respect must be earned & our government leaders and media have betrayed our trust and are unworthy of respect .
I’m very disappointed in the people who continue to vote for the status quo. Thank you, Gene, for being a voice that has consistently revealed the truth for many years. Most of us are only seeing the dire results of giving power to those who abuse it now.
Keep up the Good Fight,
Angel Godsoe
