Justin’s performance evaluation as Prime Minister.
Most employers conduct periodic performance appraisals of employees. They provide constructive feedback and compensation adjustments. As a taxpayer, I conducted an employers assessment of JT.
Timing….
In mid February, the Canadian public will receive a report on JT’s use of The Emergencies Act in early 2022. The Public Order Emergency Communication (POEC) reviewed the testimony of 65 people and will present it's conclusions to the Canadian public as to whether the invocation of that Act was warranted or not.
While the POEC mulls over the PM’s performance relating to his decisions and actions over the entire Truckers Convoy episode, I decided to conduct my own performance appraisal of JT since he first took the reigns in Ottawa. Of course, his behaviour during that period in early 2022 looms large in my evaluation. In particular, provides insight into his mindset as a national leader with global ambitions for Canada and his own future on the world stage.
A Comment….
Justin Trudeau must have known that he would suffer no repercussions for suspending the constitutional rights of 36 million Canadians when he invoked The Emergencies Act. He had said that he was prepared to “do whatever is necessary” and he meant it! That choice speaks volumes about his attitude towards the use of the power assigned to his office. It revealed his evident disrespect for Canadians. It showed hid readiness to manipulate circumstances to serve his power agenda.
His most fundamental duty.
The single most important duty of any Canadian Prime Minister is to protect every citizen according to the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. This Prime Minister suspended those constitional rights and freedoms without the approval of the Senate which represents the voice of the people. This decision, and the subsequent actions that were taken under the authority of Justin’s office, amounts to what Americans would define as treason. In this case, our Prime Minister brazenly betrayed his most fundamental duty to the people of Canada.
Narcissistic power-tripping is not leadership.
JT can conjure whatever weasel words he likes to sell his decision to the public, but I am not buying it. His showboating ego seems to overshadow any degree of humility that one might expect of a leaders who shoulders the responsibility for public matters of grave concern. Just a single, meaningful, face-to-face discussion with the Convoy leaders would have gone a long way towards signalling that JT is the Prime Minister of ALL CANADIANS, not just those who like his moment of narcissistic power-tripping like the “strongman” despot in some third-world dictatorship.
In my performance appraisal, I applied this essay ‘5 sure signs power is going to your head’ to provide a template for his overall performance in handling the powers of his office. You can guess what grade I assigned him. I would tell you, but it might influence your own evaluation of JT. [Hint: I predicted when he was first elected that history will rate him as the worst PM in Canadian history]
It appears that a few other people assessed JT yesterday as reported here.
At first, I feared that you were under some illusion that Mr Trudeau would actually give consideration to your opinion. A couple of sentences in, I realized that your expectations were, in fact, realistic.
As for his choice of judge for the EA inquiry, it's fair to say that Justice Rouleau has been a longtime Liberal supporter, going back to his day when he helped John Turner's leadership campaign in the 1980's. There are even rumours that there is a familial connection to Suzetter Rouleau (nee Trudeau), Justin's aunt. While I concede that Justice Rouleau appeared to be quite fair and accommodating during the EA inquiry, I can't help but wonder if Justin Trudeau hasn't rigged the outcome of this trial through his choice of judge.
