Letter to Council _Jan30

I attempt to inform City Council on topics that may lead to public policies which protect the ENERGY SECURITY of our citizens. I want the Mayor and Council to know my efforts are sincere.

Hello Mayor Elmslie and CKL Councillors 

Sabine Hossenfelder is a science writer/podcaster will a PhD in Theoretical Physics and an undergraduate degree in Mathematics. She has two podcast channels on YouTube in which she attempts to explain complex scientific phenomenon in terms that the intelligent layperson can understand. 

I have linked two of her YouTube presentations on Climate Change. One explains the Greenhouse Gas Effect. The other argues why Climate Change Deniers are wrong to believe that climate change is a hoax. 

I believe that Councillor Warren will be particularly interested in these videos because they support her theory that a Climate Change crisis exists. Like all ‘climate scientists’, however, Sabine attempts to explain the relationship only between two variables of interest (GHGs and global temperature) without accounting for the many other variables that may influence those two variables of interest. This myopic view on the subject is where virtually all climate modelling and research efforts break down in their ability to accurately forecast how those variables will behave in the future. 

Science and Public Policy.

I have conducted one scientific research study using the Scientific Method and the correct statistical analysis tools for my research project/paper in 1975 at the University of Waterloo. While Dr. Hossenfelder may possess a vastly superior mathematical and scientific background than I, her Wikipedia profile suggests no research experience.

Scientific knowledge evolves due to continuous efforts by scientists to challenge theories with better tools and approaches over time. This is particularly true in research design and the tools which help scientists to better understand the many extraneous variables that may have adversely affected the data and results of past published papers. 

Why I offer these videos to Council.

I presented a deputation to Council late last year about ENERGY SECURITY. In it, I referenced the Greenhouse Effect and asked about the level of knowledgable of our Mayor and Councillors regarding the Climate Change Theory.

My concern was and continues to be about the public policy decisions that Council makes which could undermined the ENERGY SECURITY of our citizens and businesses. 

I sent this message to Council to show that I am sincere in my efforts to offer relevant information to Council that is fair and balanced. Every CKL constituent is counting on every elected representative in Council to make wise and informed decisions on our behalf. 

The Mystery Remains.

Councillor Warren (pictured) proclaimed loudly and emphatically in one public City Council meeting last August that the Climate Change crisis “is real”. She is considered by many residents to be the most vocal and active Climate Change crisis promoter on CKL Council.

After Councillor Warren refused to have an open public discussion with me about ENERGY SECURITY and PUBLIC POLICY, the mystery still remains about how well-informed she and our other elected representatives are about the CLIMATE CHANGE THEORY.

We remain concerned that the best policy options are not taken (or even considered) to safeguard us from the poor ‘climate’ policies that are driving up the cost of living.
