NGO lobbying delays ENERGY SECURITY
If you are a Climate Change activivist who wants to block the expansion of safe, reliable, clean and affordable sources of energy due to beliefs in the dangers of fossil fuels, use red tape to stop it
THEIR STORY
Environmental Defence is a registered charity that works with government, industry and individuals to defend clean water, a safe climate and healthy communities in Canada. Learn about their vision, mission, values, and how they protect Canadians' health and environment through research, education and action at their web site.
At the recent COP28 conference, this is how they promoted their involvement.
“Learn about the Conference of the Parties (COP), an annual meeting of 198 countries to advance global efforts to prevent dangerous climate change. Find out why Canada needs to phase out fossil fuel production, correct the course, pay its share, kick big polluters out, cap pollution, and stop financing… “
This is the language of activism and their methods of activism include efforts like this:
Environmental Defence requested:
Approval to file heat pump evidence, demonstrating the cost-effectiveness of heat pumps relative to natural gas
Approval to file survey evidence to test the survey and customer connection forecast evidence submitted by Enbridge Gas, based on a community survey that Environmental Defence would conduct in the community of Bobcaygeon.
That the OEB consolidate the hearing of the four Enbridge Gas NGEP-related applications (Bobcaygeon, Sandford, Eganville, Neustadt)…
Pollution Probe supported Environmental Defence’s evidence proposal. Neither lobby group has any concern for the ENERGY SECURITY of our citizens, especially those that struggle most from the rising costs of energy and everything else for which reliable, safe, accessible and affordable energy is essential: food, housing, manufacturing, transportation, communications, and much more.
And the RED TAPE keeps growing.

Hip Waders needed.
Have you ever seen a man struggling to move through a river of sewage wearing hip waders and carrying an angry, heavy woman on his back trying to get somewhere?
That's what it must be like for Enbridge and its potential customers to get OEB approval while carrying the dead weight of Environmental Defence and Energy Probe lobbyists on their backs.
Another example of the WEF and Trudeau stacking the deck in their favour. People positioned to drive the agenda forward against those that can see the difference and know better.
Thanks for pointing it out Gene.
