POOP: Power Oligarchs of Ontario Politics

The lingering odour of subsidies paid quarterly to the largest 4 political parties with remain with all of us.

After the recent election, I was inspired to write about POOP especially after reading the attached article. It contains a table which shows the total in subsidies paid out to the 4 POOP members: the Progressive Conservatives, the New Democratic Party, the Ontario Liberal Party and the Green Party.

The foul arrangements between the Ontario Government and POOP are quite malodorous especially if you ran as a candidate for one of the 19 non-POOP registered parties or if you are a curious, open-minded voter who genuinely wants to consider the policy ideas of all 23 parties in an unbiased election contest. After all, the last I heard, ideas won’t hurt you, unless…..

The one exception is if your ideas do not agree with those of POOP-approved politicians. In that case, you are labelled a “conspiracy theorist”, a “racist”, a “misogynist”, “unacceptable” and “intolerable”, and/or purveyor of “misinformation”. Both you and your ideas are then banished from the Metaverse to some netherworld via censorship and methods of cancel culture as prescribed in the gospel of political correctness.

If you are ever in doubt about the acceptability of your thoughts, just ask Justin Trudeau or anyone one of his merry band of fact-checking misfits and social justice snowflakes - they are a reliable source of “right-think” advice.

I would offer my wish “may the power of POOP always be with you” but I fear that the law of unintended consequences may accidentally bite you or me in the behind….. and we can’t have THAT now can we?
