REPLACE The SENATE (revisited)
Prevent Human Rights Violations for Truckers, Nurses and other Canadians
The Charter of Rights & Freedoms is a topic that may be stale for some Canadians but is still fresh to me.
The long list of Charter violations committed by our elected representatives and government officials has been so egregious that whatever national pride I once felt as a Canadian has vanished entirely. Our Senators also seems devoid of pride in carrying out the tax-funded “work” that they do to allegedly address what really matters to the majority of Canadians.
I visited the linked page https://sencanada.ca/en/committees/RIDR/Contact/ hoping to find some evidence that our Senators were concerned about the way the Trudeau and Ford governments have abused the rights of our citizens. I am, of course, referring to the Truckers For Freedom national protest and vaccine mandates.
I still can’t believe that peaceful Canadian protestors, who simply exercised their constitutional rights to express public opposition to unconstitutional vaccine mandates, were so readily bullied and harmed by the kind of “official” responses that we saw and/or have personally experienced.
Has the Senate shown any concern for the egregious and scientifically unwarranted travel restrictions imposed on economically essential workers such as truckers? - NO!
Where was the Senator outrage for the job terminations of front-line health care workers (such as nurses) who refused the jab? - There was NONE!
The Senate ignored our Charter rights.
Considering the fact that millions of Canadians were seriously harmed by our governments’ pandemic policies, I would have expected that ALL of the Senate’s time and effort would have focused on protecting our citizens from unprecedented government overreach.
The evidence is clear.
The Senate, as it exists today, is a “creature of political and government elites” who are excessively privileged at taxpayer expense. Our Senators are captured by woke ideological interests which determine their priorities and have demonstrated clearly and repeatedly that they are totally out-of-touch with average citizens.
The Senate has proven itself to be irrelevant to Canadians.
Abolish the Senate.
Let’s replace the Senate with a non-government alternative that will serve Canadians and be removed entirely from “ideological capture” and the “globalist agenda” preferred by reigning political and government elites.
Let’s learn from the Senate’s failures and shortcomings to ensure that it’s replacement will be limited in scope of responsibilities so as to only serve the Canadian people.
“Authority creep” occurring over many decades has gradually transformed the Senate into an inwardly-focussed, self-serving bureaucracy. Our Senators don’t understand that their primary responsibility to serve our citizens.
Let’s decentralize decision-making and move it closer to the people that decisions serve. A Direct Democracy model of government similar to the Republic of Switzerland should be considered in Canada. It will prevent the ‘authority creep’ which inevitably occurs in large, centralized institutions with the broad reach of power in a country as large as Canada.
Rebuild a Civil Society.
Let’s make sure that the Charter of Rights & Freedoms will be upheld and that Individual Person & Property Rights will be strictly defended.
These are the two most important elements for a civil society to thrive in Canada and all of its diverse communities.
