Selling for the Canadian Taxpayers Federation?
I saw a request for sales people to work for the CTF and briefly considered applying as a “kindred spirit” in common cause. Instead, I wrote the following email to the CTF and Generation Screwed.
Hello,
I am a kindred spirit of the CTF and Generation Screwed.
With over 45 years of sales experience and many years of written advocacy, I applaud the work you are doing to bring governance and economic sanity back to Canada (if we ever had it in the first place).
As someone who has been politically active in 9 elections as a Libertarian (Less Government) candidate, I am not “non-partisan” and, consequently, don’t qualify to sell for you, but I can certainly support your efforts.
My writing under ‘My Life Lens’ on Substack.com is where most of my efforts go these days to champion principles like Freedom of Informed Choice, the Non-aggression Principle (NAP) and the defence of Individual Person & Property Rights (IPR) for all Canadians. Here is an example from yesterday. https://open.substack.com/pub/gbalfour/p/defund-the-office-of-the-governor?r=16emgc&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web
This past year, I wrote and published a Kindle ebook, What to do about Climate Change, A Libertrarian Proposal. It proposes The Bigfoot Show - a way to address industrial greenhouse gas emissions with absolutely NO GOVERNMENT INVOLVEMENT. Bigfoot is a free market, voluntary approach to engage, entertain and inform/educate people who are concerned witt the alleged “Crimate crisis”. No one is obligated to pay or participate in Bigfoot. I hope you read this book to see that the idea offers an broader, Freedom of Informed Choice approach that can be applied across many domains of government authority.
The linked Substack article offers a similar approach as Bigfoot to fund the Office of the Governor General. This approach may seem “radical” at first until you consider how badly and radically our “Generation Screwed” community has been treated by “the state”. Radical ideas are better than no ideas at all. They rally others to “get creative”, “think outside the box” and they notify “the state” that we are generating ideas that will eventually render many tax-enabled, “public servant” positions obsolete.
The short ‘citizen white paper’ I wrote called DIGITAL DIRECT DEMOCRACY, A Libertarian Antidote to DIGITAL COMMUNISM, is a Kindoe eBook that addresses impending changes to banking in Canada. Digital Democracy offers a “fight fire with fire” approach to protect our citizens from the potential risks related to the roll out of CBDCs and further surveillance tools employed exclusively by “the state”. I worked in the IT sector as an IT Recruiter for over 35 years, interviewed over 10,000 IT professionals, and gained a solid understanding of information technology infrastructure. This background explains why I know the Digital Democracy proposal is very doable.
I wrote the Ontario Charter of Rights and Freedoms borrowing liberally from the federal Charter. Alberta and Saskatchewan have both passed provincial “sovereignty” acts to protect their interests against a rogue federal government in Ottawa. Ontario and Manitoba should do the same but I have found little interest from the public for this idea. https://open.substack.com/pub/gbalfour/p/ontario-sovereignty-act-update?r=16emgc&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web
I am very ‘partisan’ for Less Government.
I will never identify myself as “non-partisan” because “the state” is very partisan in favour of More Government, AND it commands resources way beyond anything available for Less Government Advocates like me. Note that “libertarian” appears nowhere on my personal card shown below. This is because too much government is the #1 problem for every Canadian except for those of the “privileged class” who benefit directly from “the state” (i.e. employees, public sector labour unions and subsidized entities like the legacy media, wind and solar farm owners, etcetera.)
I recommend that all of your employees and representatives identify themselves with business cards that display the title Advocate for Less Government. It is not partisan for any political party, but it does state clearly your mission to reduce taxes, waste and excessive government growth.
Feel free to call me if there is something more I can do to move our “kindred spirit” along a productive path.
Regards,
Gene Balfour, citizen journalist on Substack “My Life Lens”
Author of “What to do about Climate Change, A Libertarian Proposal” and “Digital Direct Democracy, A Libertarian Antidote to Digital Communism”.

Shirley, I have also a short (34 tablet pages) citizen “white paper” on Kindle called ‘Digital Direct Democracy, A Libertarian Antidote to Digital Communism’. If you are worried about Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDC) and their potential impact on your life and our economy, please read it.
I suspect that the CTF meant "partisan" as someone who supports a party in the government.
The CTF is not so much about "less government" as it is about government waste. Of course, almost everything the government does is a waste of money. And if the government isn't wasting our taxes they are forcing private enterprises to waste money complying with government regulations.
