The Balfour Amendment
.... in this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes and government expansion.
Death, taxes and government expansion.
“Death and taxes" is a phrase commonly referencing a famous quotation written by American statesman Benjamin Franklin:
Our new Constitution is now established, and has an appearance that promises permanency; but in this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes.
— Franklin, in a letter to Jean-Baptiste Le Roy, 1789[1] [source: Wikipedia{
Franklin wrote this statement nearly 250 year ago during the early years of America. He would be gobsmacked by the size, cost and scope of authority that taxes have funded to reach the current size of the government sector.
Today, in 2023, I offer the Balfour Amendment to Franklin’s famous statement:
“ …. in this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death, taxes and government expansion.”
The United Nations since 1945
Wikipedia tells an important story about the history and growth of the United Nations.
The UN’s influence on global politics is unrivaled today. It spans a range of global issues including climate change. Affiliate global entities, such as the WEF and IPCC, have leveraged the UN’s legislative powers and intergovernmental relationships to stage the emergence of a New World Order before our very eyes and with our tacit approval at the election polls.
I am an unabashed Advocate for Less Government simply because excessive government growth has threatened Western Democracies for far too long and we are now seeing and feeling the consequences. Our electorate is to blame. Every vote for a Liberal, NDP, Green and Bloc Quebecois politician has been a vote for More Government. This is less true for Conservative voters. The result is that the majority of Canadian are now Dependents Of The State on some level.
