The Elusive Magic Bullet for Climate Change Denial
Seeking proof that a significant direct relationship between atmospheric CO2 concentrations and rising global temperatures exists.
Letter to the MCJ Collective - Unleashing Climate Innovation
Today, I sent the letter below to Jason Jacob, host of the My Climate Journey podcast. I hope that he may know someone who can answer a question I began to ask over 10 years ago and have yet to receive a satisfying reply.
In 2019, Jason began speaking with “fascinating and accomplished people tackling the climate crisis from every angle and discipline. Knowing others might also be curious, he began recording his conversations to get their knowledge out there. With every new episode of the My Climate Journey podcast, more people reached out to add their voices to the conversation”. Recently Jason posted Episode 215.
My Letter to Jason on July 7, 2022.
Hello Jason.
Congratulations on the success of your podcast. I have had a longtime interest in the AGW/Climate Change topic. I also have had an entrepreneurial career since 1981, am a Less Government Libertarian politically, and admire your efforts to bring entrepreneurs together to create energy solutions.
I have followed the AGW (Anthropogenic Global Warming) narrative for many years. My university degree in Science combined with a 40+ year, knowledge-intensive career in the IT sector has informed my Life Lens with which I have considered the arguments presented in the mainstream AGW narrative. Today, I do believe that mankind has a significant ongoing impact on the earth’s environment, but I am unsure of the extent that GHGs, especially CO2, are having on global temperature.
The book Unsettled reflects my current understanding of the science and politics surrounding this topic. https://www.amazon.ca/Unsettled-Climate-Science-Doesnt-Matters/dp/1950665798/ref=nodl_?dplnkId=b35ce5a1-632d-4a98-9dc6-45a44695454b&asin=1950665798&revisionId=&format=4&depth=1
My Quest to answer One Fundamental Question
About 10 years ago, I exchanged emails with a senior official of the US government. She was responsible for enduring that the Climate Change topic was taught in every school in America. I heard her speak in a podcast and assumed that she could answer a question that was nagging me.
I assumed that my request would be simple for someone in her position and with her professional contacts: Could she supply links to published scientific research that proved a direct relationship between CO2 atmospheric concentration and global temperatures, and the extent of that relationship?
In her reply, she repeated the “scientific consensus” mantra without offering even one research paper that could end my nagging doubts.
Can you satisfy my quest?
My goal in writing to you is to ask if you can satisfy that question. I have asked it of others over the years. Those who have replied always directed me to many studies that report the catastrophic effects of Climate Change. However, every one of those reports assumed that: 1) “the science is settled” about the extent to which GHGs are the direct cause of the reported catastrophic consequences and 2) the burning of fossil fuels is the primary culprit for the alleged harms.
Why has The Magic Bullet been so elusive?
If a direct relationship between atmospheric CO2 concentrations and rising global temperatures exists and has been proven to be significant enough to warrant the mitigation efforts of governments worldwide, then the scientific proof is invaluable. It would, once and for all time, dispel the skepticism that remains with many so-called “Climate Change deniers” who still question what all the fuss is about.
Calling for the Magic Bullet from the MCJ Collective
An entrepreneurial effort to provide that “magic bullet” of scientific proof is a worthy undertaking for someone within you MCJ Collective membership community.
If someone already has that “magic bullet”, please notify me. Also, I recommend that you host that person on your podcast and call the episode: The Climate Change Denial Magic Bullet.
