To TRUST, or Not To TRUST during the 2022 Elections?
We are at a dangerous point in Canadian history.
PUBLIC TRUST is more important than ever, especially but not exclusively, in politics. The pandemic has shone a spotlight on two TRUST issues:
👫 🤷🏿♂️ 🤷🏻♀️ trust in each other as voters to make good choices, and
🤵♀️🧑🏾💼👨🏻⚖️ trust in our elected and unelected authorities.
The linked article describes our collective journey concerning the Covid vaccines - their initial promise and their current reality. If hindsight matters, then “trusting the science” was a political phrase that really meant to trust the gate-keepers of genuine scientific research and to believe in their interpretation of the data. This article, however, begs the question - has the scientific data lied, or have the gate-keepers?
Cui Bono?
Most, if not all vaccine research is funded and/or controlled by the government and/or the pharmaceutical partners who hold the covid vaccine patents. These stakeholders stand to make money and/or gain power from these products. It’s hard to ignore, or trust, those who benefit most from the billions of jabs injected to date.
My Internet search asking ‘Is trust earned?’ turned up this quote in a Forbes magazine article: “To earn trust, money and power aren’t enough; you have to show some concern for others. You can’t buy trust in the supermarket." – His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Given the revelations in this article, how much trust do you retain for public authorities and the pharmaceutical giants in whose hands our safety has been placed?
Three elections in 2022 on public TRUST.
1️⃣ In June, Ontario elects a new provincial government.
2️⃣ In September, a new Leader of Conservative Party of Canada will be elected.
3️⃣ The US mid-term elections late in 2022 will pass a public verdict on the performance of Joe Biden and his Democratic Party.
TRUST - the #1 emotional factor - will determine all winners and losers.
Informed TRUST
‘Informed Consent’ became a hot discussion topic in the past 18 months as it related to whether a citizen should accept the Covid vaccine. For many, the “informed” part was inadequate because too much was unknown about the risks and efficacy of these new injections. The Bill of Rights and the Nuremberg Code should have been enough to defend each person against the use of coercion and “safe & effective” misinformation used to lure citizens into vaccine compliance.
Will “Informed TRUST” become an equally hot topic in upcoming elections? Consider how often our reasons to trust have been dashed from excessively aggressive lockdowns, mandates and the unprecedented power grabs by official who enacted “emergency” legislation for that purpose.
Many broken promises and hurt feelings litter the pandemic battle field today. Perhaps worst of all, the Truckers For Freedom Convoy laid bare our sad reality that not even the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms could protect us from all of the above?
What about “transparency in government” - a promise made by virtually every past opposition leadership candidate before winning the responsibility of public office? I wish I had $1 for every time I learn THAT broken promise, although I doubt it would be enough to pay my tax bill 🥺.
