We Who Wrestle With Principles

Philosophy is a field of intellectual endeavour practiced by men like Jordan Peterson who produces faith-based content that rarely touches the ground in any practical sense.

Myths, old and new.

Dr. Jordan Peterson wrestles with the heavenly mysteries of the Bible and its lead character, God.

Meanwhile, I am among millions of others who wrestle with the more pedestrian challenges of governing human beings and their communities in a peaceful and respectful manner.

Amazon promotes Dr. Peterson’s latest book We Who Wrestle with God with the following words:

Fracking for Divine Wisdom

While Jordan continues fracking for Divine Wisdom by spelunking the depth’s of the Bible and its mystical God, untold numbers of “freedom warriors” across Canada hopelessly seek a way to deal with Goliath - the very real “secular god” of all who worship the powers of the truly “supreme being” of modern times.

Goliath is the know-all, see-all, tax-all and regulate-all Crony-Capitalist cabal of puppet masters who reside within the Big Corporations and Big Government hegemonic giants.

The “David” characters of this story are the many brave yet feeble Canadians who lead delicate freedom communities with little more than a rock in a sling hoping to take down Goliath.

A tiny seed of growing and spreading.

One newish “David” on the scene is a small group of men with first names Charles, John and Jack. They launched OurPrinciples.ca in recent weeks.

The feature document, “Our Principles”, is virtually identical to “The Statement of Principles” posted late in the Spring of 2024 by Civis4Reform. Notice that each version features a copyright statement.

It is my understanding that the copyright notice signifies that the Principles belong to the People of Canada, and NOT any single person or organization.

OurPrinciples.ca exists for one purpose: to preserve and protect the Principles from any potential misuse by third parties who may be tempted to use and/or modify it for unintended purposes, and to prevent any potential violation to the spirit and intent of the Principles themselves.

Free Use with reasonable conditions

Ideally, all third party groups are free to reference and link to the Principles as the governing principles of their organization. However, it must be kept at arms length from any secular, political or religious ambitions for which the third party organization was formed.

The Principles are envisioned as a UNIFYING COVENANT between all manifestations of David who aspire to the highest form of Democracy that mankind has conceived to date.

The voice of persons.

Dr. Jordan Peterson is an intellectual who writes and speaks like one. He does not represent the voice of “Everyman”.

“David” represents every Canadian who feels the weight of Goliath on his or her shoulders.

While the words of Principles may not represent the prescriptive form of expression of Everyman, they do offer a practical, common sense formula for achieving a democratic Civil Society.

If spoken to Goliath by each individual “David”, some might shout some variation of those words in anger and defiance while others may choose a calmer, less confrontational voice. Nonetheless, the content is more important that the manner of expression and different approaches are needed to reach the many manifestations of Goliath.

People are rallied by inspiring stories.

This contemporary story of David and Goliath is today’s mythological moment. It must be respected as much or more than the mythology of the Bible written centuries ago under very different circumstances.

The Principles can be considered as today’s civic Ten Commandments. While hundreds of Christian, Bible-based religions have come and gone over the millennia, maybe the Principles will also will an enduring spot in the hearts and minds of the multitude.

This past success of religions fuels my hope that the Principles will be embraced indefinitely across the world as the foremost secular guide for all peoples who prefer living within a genuine democracy.

The evolving Frankenstein versions of “democracy” in which “you will own nothing and be happy” are the manifestations of corruption within the corridors of state power and from the decks of the yachts of the super rich.

They are the autocratic maniacs who inhabit the body of Goliath.

THE PRINCIPLES are Canada’s UNIFYING DOCUMENT

I have described the Principles as the “People’s Constitution” because is was written by average Canadians for ALL Canadians. Its creators consider to be an “open source” document which can be used by anyone under the conditions described above.

The federal Government, a manifestation of Goliath, has its own Constitutional documents. The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, for example, prescribes some limitations to the voice and actions of David which have proven to be unacceptable to many Canadians.

As the “People’s Constitution”, the Principles document stands toe to toe with Goliath on Canada’s constitutional stage as equals.

Jim Morrison of the Doors sang in the 1960s rock song Five To One:

“They got the guns, but we got the numbers”.

That claim to democratic power by David will only be true if “the numbers” are unified under a common banner.

Let the Principals be that banner.
