WHO will be your SAVIOUR?
An epic global battle is underway between the forces of “good” and “evil”.
On April 22, I attended a political Meet & Greet for the new Ontario Party in the small town of Apsley. The stars of the show were: Dr. Kerstin Kelly, OP candidate for the Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes-Brock electoral riding; Tom Marazzo, OP candidate for the neighbouring Peterborough-Kawartha riding; and Derek Sloan, OP Leader since 2021 and former Conservative Member of Parliament.
The meeting was held in a small church and attended by about 50 people who were nearly all retirement age. The two local politicians each presented to the audience describing the who-what-where-and-why of their political goals and campaign. Derek did the same but added the ‘bigger picture’ perspective that only the Leader can. He ended his pitch by leading a prayer to support the Ontario Party’s mission.
A Christian Party?
A few days ago, I read the Ontario Party’s Charter that is published on its web site. A got the distinct feeling that this Party was trying to appeal particularly to Christian voters and wondered what that meant for non-believers.
During the meeting, my friend Steve whispered to me that the event had the feeling of a church service. The audience sat in rows on traditional church pews. We all listened attentively to the speakers as they offered their pitches views and remedies concerning the evils that have been foist upon us. The forces of evil were identified as the seen, and unseen, power elites who reside both within our nation as well as beyond our shores.
Derek, a devout Christian, played the role of high priest well. He spoke in sweeping terms of the Party’s glorious mission and ended by punctuating the urgent need for funding, volunteers, and ‘apostles’ who will go forth to spread their message. Derek portrayed the Ontario Party as ‘the way’ that we can be saved if we all pitch in to do the work and to make the required commitments and sacrifices.
Derek Sloan’s political message and request for help is perfectly correct and certainly appropriate for our times. Success will only come with the aggressive and sustained growth of the Party itself, it’s reputation and the number of people who will choose to follow it. For a new party, that road to success will be long and arduous, likely measured in decades.
When reality sets in.
I have run in 8 elections as a candidate for small political parties including the People’s Party of Canada (PPC) and the provincial and federal Libertarian parties. I also served as Chairman of the Ontario Libertarian Party (OLP) for the 2018 election when we fielded 116 candidates for the province’s 124 electoral ridings. I am very aware of the time, money and organizational effort it takes to build a political party.
While I understand the purpose of every Meet & Greet like the one I attended, I am also acutely aware of the many land mines and barriers-to-entry that startups like the Ontario Party face if they hope to reach the stature of the Big Three - the Liberals, Conservatives and NDP.
If Dr. Kelly and Tom Marazzo are like most first-time politicians that I have known, this election will teach them many hard personal and political lessons. Running for office is not for the ‘weak-of-heart’ and is a life-changing experience. It will either deepen their resolve to do it many times again or they will forever avoid such experiences again.
The political land mines were intentional.
The climb for any new and/or small political party to significance is historically very difficult and extremely rare in Ontario. Consider the following facts as revealed in the Elections Ontario web site.
First. Every election in the past century has been won by either the Liberals or Conservatives with one exception: the NDP managed to win just once, under Bob Rae.
Second. 23 parties are currently registered to compete for seats in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario in the upcoming June 2nd election. While this has been typical in past elections, only the 4 major parties (the ‘BORG’ as the blue, orange, red and Green parties by party colours) have received a share of the $millions in annual government payments provided under the Per Vote Subsidy; this fact gives them a huge financial advantage for their election campaign.
Third. The BORG also benefits greatly from significant media attention that they receive for their campaigns while the smaller parties get slim to none.
Of course, those same “mainstream media” corporations are also government-subsided and they will certainly favour the parties who will most likely be their future subsidy paymasters.
Fourth. The election rules, to which every political party and their candidates must comply, are defined in the Elections Act. This Act was created and passed by bygone MPPs who were either Liberal or Conservative politicians. Elections Ontario is the government body which enforces this Act; it ensures that all political participants conform strictly to a book of bureaucratic regulations and procedures.
Does anyone believe that those past MPPs were thinking about small or new political parties, and the voices that they wished to represent, when that Act was negotiated and written? Not likely. The Act was clearly intended to establish “fair” contests between the major parties where the stakes are much higher. For a small party, most of the Elections Ontario rules are grossly excessive and make little sense.
Does the Charter have teeth?
The topic of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms came up at the Meet & Greet as did the legal efforts by Brian Peckford to defend it. Mr. Peckford is a former Premier of Newfoundland and the last surviving provincial Premier who co-signed the Canadian Charter in 1982.
Brian contends that it is the responsibility and duty of every Canadian to take their Freedoms seriously. He argues that Canadians have been too complacent about the very real threats to our Democracy and have neglected the required political and personal effort to ensure that the Charter can effectively protect us. He urges all of us to fight for our freedoms just as our military veterans have done in the past.
Charter Champions
Canada’s recent Truckers For Freedom 2022 nation-wide protest became famous globally and showcased our ‘Charter in action’. Our warriors - our Charter Champions - were, and continue to be: the truckers themselves; the trucker caravan organizers; the many ‘citizen journalists’ who filmed and documented the truth about the movement on social media; the donors to the cause and the hundreds of nameless volunteers who helped keep the truckers stocked with food, drink, fuel and supplies. Let’s not forget the thousands of patriots who stood with and by the truckers in Ottawa and wherever else the protest took place.
Beware the angry bear.
The “emergency orders” called by Trudeau and Ford against our Charter Champions was like a gunshot to the chest of every Freedom-loving Canadian. Not fatal, those shots have only served to rile and embolden an already-angry bear. The bear continues to prowl in new ways, including in the political arena…
I am not a religious man but I have to ask…
Is humanity engaged in an epic battle between good and evil?
I was raised by two devout Catholic parents who ensured that I, and my four siblings, received a good Catholic education. I recall that the figure of Jesus, the Son of God, was “made flesh” for one purpose - to represent and lead the “Body of Christ” (comprised of all souls that travel their own path) back to God the Father.
It seems to me, based of this understanding, that we are being called to participate in an epic battle - a “Holy War” if you will. I believe that this battle will ultimately prove that we can be our own Saviour. We, a vast body of souls, must join together in unity to overcome the forces of evil - the ‘elites’ who control vast amounts of wealth and power, and who wish to enslave us all to their yoke of authoritarian control.
The “Great Satan”
I have heard it said that many people in the Middle East refer to the USA as the ‘Great Satan’. They hate America because of the many ways that the USA has meddled in their political, economic and cultural affairs with unwanted and often devastating consequences.
In recent years, it has become increasingly clear that this meddling is not solely an American phenomenon. Today, new faces of elite actors are identifiable. The are associated with significant globalist enterprises, business and government, and they are billionaires with huge amounts of money and influence, are also at work and not necessarily American. The ambitions of some on the most significant players in the globalist game seem bent on establishing a New World Order under elite control.
“Thou Shall Not have false gods before me”
In my assessment, these globalist forces represent false gods. They offer the promise of personal ‘safety’ to global citizens. That safety, however, comes with strict and non-negotiable conditions. Conditional freedoms and privileges will only be awarded to any citizen who obeys their rules.
These ‘gods’ plan to command humanity from an elite perch enabled by the rollout of an all-powerful and all-knowing system of Digital Communism. China has taken the lead and already installed more public cameras with facial recognition AI software per capita than any other nation. Their ambition to monitor every citizen 24 x 7 x 365 - this is the “all-knowing” part.
The “all-powerful” part will be a global surveillance capability combined with a “social scoring” system to track every person and reward positive behaviour. The current travel restrictions, placed on unvaccinated citizens in Canada by government mandate, is an example of this trend beginning in Canada under its “build back better” agenda. None of the above belongs in the realm of science fiction. The mind-boggling capabilities of modern science and technology that enable and enforce this transition were described clearly in the 2017 book: The Fourth Industrial Revolution by Dr. Klaus Schwab.
Similarities to a religion…
These gods also have their own version of ‘prayer’. It is simply your repeated declaration of commitment to abide faithfully to their rules, their “science” and their version of “truth”. Like attending church services or saying ‘the rosary”, you are also expected to participate in their version of ‘rituals and ceremonies’: take ‘the jab’, where your mask, sanitize your hands and don’t ask questions; promote their mandates to everyone else even when the mandates seem illogical. Being “saved” or “born again” under their paradigm simply means that the gods will grant you privileges, such as international travel. Like Pavlov’s dog experiment, the use of rewards will train the ‘masses’ into regime conformity. As a tribal species, few will wish to be banished from the “most deserving” of society, the digital surveillance state will we always watching to confirm that you are on your ‘best behaviour’.
If you don’t believe that any of the above is our current reality, ask any fully-vaccinated person to show their QR code (aka “digital passport”) on their phone and to explain why they took the ‘jab’.
I am a skeptical guy.
I have often felt that there is very little difference between Big Faith (aka organized religion) and Big Government. They both demand loyalty and will banish anyone from their communities who expresses heretical views.
They both sell Hope and promise future rewards to their faithful. They both require enormous amounts to money to operate, and then they publicly display their accumulated wealth and power with impressively-architected and enduring buildings that serve to remind everyone who is ‘in charge’.
I feel no need to belong to such communities. However, I do know and accept that others seek security and comfort by belonging to communities of like-minded people. I don’t judge their choices. In return I expect that they try to constrain mine.
May the Holy Spirit be with you….
In the end, will new political entities like the Ontario Party deliver the “promised land”? Not likely, but who knows what the future holds? After all, who in 1961 would have foreseen the fledgling NDP eventually become so prominent in today’s politics?
Back to the religion comparison, I think of Derek, Tom and Dr. Kelly as agents of the Holy Spirit who have chosen to guide others to the path to Freedom - ‘Heaven on Earth’. Are they expert guides? Only you can decide if what they offer is what you currently need on your journey.
For me, however, I believe that we are our own Saviour. It is ultimately up to each and every one of us to discover our best path forward including our best guides for the journey. In the sphere of politics, our vote at the ballot booth is but a feeble tool to act on our choices, but it is currently the best (albeit imperfect) we currently have. My personal choice will be to continue to seek various ways to help banish the Great Satan to the netherworld where He belongs.

Well said. And great speech this evening in woodville.
