You love wind turbines, right?
I have been known to hug trees, but not wind turbines. Birds perch in trees and sing songs my wife loves. Turbine blades kill those birds. My recent deputation to City Council said this and more.
Is wind turbine love real?
Some people have an irrational love of wind turbines. I don’t get it.
I love my cats, dogs, home, wife and children, but a wind turbine gets none of that love or attention.
Close encounter with a turbine lover.
After my deputation to City Council on Tuesday, I went to a retail store in Lindsay. Curious by nature, I asked the store owner this question about wind turbines:
“If the provincial government was to notify you that they planned to instal a wind turbine 400 meters outside of your bedroom window, would you try to stop them?”
Her reply:
“I live in the city so this scenario would never apply to me”.
I asked,
“Hypothetically, if you lived in a rural area, how would you react?”
Her answer:
“I wouldn’t object”.
This answer didn’t surprise her knowing her to be a climate change activist.
“Does it not bother you that wind turbines kill birds and that the sleeping patterns of some people nearby are disturbed by the huge rotating blades?” I asked.
“I have heard those claims but I don’t believe them” she said smugly.
Who are these wind turbine huggers?
That short dialogue revealed an attitude that I have found to be common with climate change activists, especially the city dwellers who will never face the consequences of the policies for which they advocate.
Many claim to be environmental stewards of the Earth, but killing birds by the thousands, destroying croplands with vast solar farms, and jeopardizing the health of local residents always fails to meet any rational environmental goals they tout.
Why their fanaticism?
Care-givers care!
It's built into their DNA.
It defines their identity.
It exonerates their endless virtue-signalling, especially to other care-givers who inhabit their select echo chambers.
Propaganda celebrates them as “champions of humanity”. They are portrayed and praised as selfless, humanity-loving citizens who deserve public honour and respect for their steadfast fight against fossil fuels.
Without much, if any, scientific training to understand the alleged threats of man-made greenhouse gases, they freely state “I trust the experts”. Their “experts” are conveniently named by politicians, ranking public officials (domestic and international) and other famous activists like Al Gore, Greta Thunberg and some outspoken Hollywood entertainers.
Narcissism plays a role on their activism. Many crave to be seen as “do-gooders” and they actively seek the limelight of public attention for their support of a “noble cause”.
What’s really going on…
Dr. Mathias Desmet coined the term “mass formation psychosis” in his book ‘Psychology of Totalitarianism”. This phenomenon explains how so many caregivers succumbed to the contemporary turbine-hugging zeitgeist. One hopes that it will fade in time.
As form me, I will continue hugging trees but NOT wind turbines.
