Deputation for Peterborough City Council

Tonight, Maggie Braun will present this to Council. I wrote it for her as a participant in our growing Community of Concerned Constituents across Ontario.

To: Peterborough Council

Topic: Standards for considering Climate Change proposals.

Concerned Constituents of Peterbough object to the Council Agenda item:

“That the Committee approve the recommendation outlined in Report IPSACP23-028, dated September 5, 2023, of the Commissioner, Infrastructure and Planning Services (Acting).

That the report be received for information: Corporate Sector Greenhouse Gas Emission Inventory and Update, Report IPSACP23- 028”

Rationale:

1. Report IPSACP23- 028 is based on the scientifically unsubstantiated premise that Greenhouse Gas emissions, specially CO2 resulting from humans burning fossil fuels for heat and energy, are dangerous.

2. Report IPSACP23- 028 fails to justify, with scientific evidence, the public expenditures on collecting on Corporate Sector Greenhouse Gas Emissions.

The purpose of this deputation:

To satisfy the citizens of PTBO that this Council possesses the scientific knowledge and understanding to competently make decisions on behalf of all PTBO constituents regarding the Climate Crisis theory and the alleged scientific basis for it. This is a question of Public Confidence in our elected representatives.

Preamble for QUESTION #1

The Internet is a vast resource of human knowledge. It provides credible information to challenge the premise of “climate change” (formerly “anthropogenic global warming’) and its alleged threats.

For example, according to https://pulsegrow.com/blogs/learn/co2 ‘The Ultimate CO2 Guide for Indoor Growing’, the optimal level of atmospheric CO2 for plant growth ranges from 600 to 1500 PPM. These levels represent the best industry practices for greenhouses growers. They are much higher than outdoor CO2 levels of ~415 PPM.

Proponents of the Climate Crisis theories often attribute the human-caused rising levels of atmospheric CO2 to be the cause of environmental threats such as forest fires. Will the Mayor, or any member of Council, answer Question #1 with citations from published scientific papers (only submissions from recognized scientific journals will be accepted) which describe the Mechanism of Action at the molecular level and provides the data collected by the researchers.

QUESTION #1.

• If the rising of atmospheric CO2 levels above the current level of ~415 PPM (parts per million) are alleged to cause forest fires, then please describe the mechanism of action at the molecular level and explain why greenhouses do not burst into flames when CO2 levels exceed 600 PPM?

Antonio Guterres, Secretary-General of the UN, recently made this public announcement:  “… we have entered the era of global boiling”.

QUESTION #2: If this claim is true, then why doesn’t a pot of water begin to boil inside a greenhouse when CO2 levels of 1500 PPM are reached?

Why should any PTBO resident trust the United Nations, the IPCC, or any other globalist body when they make such outrageous statements like this “global boiling” claim?   

Preamble to Question#3

Energy Security means reliable and affordable energy for every PTBO citizen and business owner. Green Energy sources cannot replace the energy supplied from fossil fuels to meet our Energy Security needs. Politically, affordable and reliable energy affects 100% of PTBO residents. On the other hand, an unknown and much smaller proportion of residents believe in the theory that a “climate crisis” exists and is associated with CO2 emissions:

QUESTION #3.

• Will Council commit to prioritize our Energy Security above all else whenever a Climate Change proposal is presented to it?

PROPOSALS to Council.

With the above in mind, we propose this deputation that City Council:

1. Spend no additional time, money or resources on any future submissions to Council involving unsubstatiated Climate Change threats like those implied in Report IPSACP23- 028.

2. Public money and resources are wasted on projects like Corporate Sector Greenhouse Gas Emission Inventory and Update, Report IPSACP23- 028. Will Council discourage this waste in the future?

3. Will Council represent 100% of PTBO constituents and not only those who believe the Climate Crisis narratives promoted by the UN and its orbit of institutions and special interest organizations (NGOs, public sector labour unions, etc) that support it for self-serving reasons?

4. Our Energy Security is vastly more important than the alleged and disproven “climate crisis’.  Will Council make a public statement to this effect?

5. Will Council demand the highest possible standards of proof when Climate Change topics arise? In other words, will Council reject “climate change” as a magic phrase that must automatically command your serious attention and consideration? Will you expect to receive verifiable and specifically-related scientific proof for any Climate Change request before it is granted any consideration by Council?

6. Please provide Council’s answers to the above 3 Questions on the City’s website.
