Tying yourself to these frauds is a bad look, Gene. Any valid points they're making are overshadowed by the fact that they're lying about being a First Nation (and in most, if not all cases, lying about being Indigenous, though I only know that for certain with Denby). It diminishes your credibility immensely. Even Godsoe had the good sense to distance herself from them.

I am not tied to the Denby crowd.

Good (though you should probably know that Denby, in typical Denby fashion, has previously listed you as a "member" of his "band", so this may be unclear to others as well). However, uncritically using their made-up titles and name without at least noting that there's a chance they're making the whole "Kawartha First Nation" thing up reads, to me, like tacit support. Surely you know what Bill is like; and you must remember that none of this was a thing a decade ago. I don't think you want to go down with that ship.

I can’t stop Bill from making any claim about me. I have never been a member of his “tribe”. This post describes exactly how I consider his efforts.

One thing demonstrated in the linked video is that the Indigenous land acknowledgements that our governments and institutions like to perform are now proven to be empty rituals.

It would mean a lot more if "Chief" Bill Denby were actually Indigenous (or if "Kawartha First Nation" were an actual, recognized First Nation They are not. he is not. So this is all just a racist charade. They ought to be ashamed of themselves.

Some of them have valid points, but those points are completely overshadowed by their despicable cosplay.

So I suppose it's then a good lesson in the dangers inherent with identity politics. Kind of like dudes that pretend to be female in order to compete and win in woman's sports.

Sure, if there are men pretending to be women so they can win at women's sports, then yes.

Or like Blackface.

Either way, supporting it isn't a good look and diminishes from valid messages.
