Today is Sunday, a day of reflection. It is also July 2nd, the day after Canada Day. If you celebrated it, did you think about what it is about Canada that was worthy of celebration?
In those immortal words of JFK "Ask not what your country can do for you but ask what you can do for your country!" Too many people/citizens have forgotten this ideal.
I fully agree! I still would like each citizens to define what “country” means to him or her. If everyone (especially MPs, MPPs and City Mayors) wrote an essay on Substack on “The Meaning and Significance of ‘country’ “ every Canada Day, we would have less “cheer-leading for the team” and more meaningful leadership from our elected representatives.
I would LOVE less government but I don't think that will be happening any time soon. I stopped celebrating Canada Day when they passed UNDRIP 2 summers ago, just before Canada Day. I remember watching PPC Candidate Ron Vaillant explaining it all on his YTube channel....sad day for Canada and we have been in decline for a while now...
The only way less government can be achieved is if enough citizens vote for it. Today, in every election, the “more government” major parties dominate because the Less Government option is only on the ballot if a Libertarian candidate is listed or an Independent who makes it clear that he/she will only serve the interests of Local constituents.
