I have no scientific data to support my hypothesis but I suspect that the rise in high blood pressure cases leading to heart attack or stroke can be linked to tirades over idiotic public policies.
As usual, government tries to suck and blow at the same time. I have planted dozens of trees and shrubs on the property my wife and I have owned for 20 years, in addition to two eastern pines planted by the developer and a street-side maple provided by the city. I have no intention of asking for permission to remove trees that I have planted, as the reality is that they can become hazardous or even crowd out other vegetation if they get too big.
On the other hand, the city is happy to raze acres of bush to make way for new development. Lately, new developments consist mainly of urban highrises with minimal green space, and low maintenance "hard-scaping" instead of gardens.

I accept your high blood pressure hypothesis. I took advantage of the severe icestorm that exempted tree removal.
