I agree wit Nectar. I remember reading some time ago that one of the last stages of democracy occurs when the populace discover they can obtain "alms" from the country's Treasury. In fact government realized promising alms is the best way to get elected.At some point they changed from using force to protect us to using force to extract money from us to buy votes.

Politicians don't need to be educated. They supposedly hire educated staff, experts, to let them know what is feasible and what the tradeoffs are. But of course, all they really want the bureaucrats to tell them is how to get re-elected. The standard formula is to rob Peter to pay Paul And "Paul" they mean friends and supporters.

I took time from a long "to-do" list to watch the entire excellent Mark Mills presentation. Based on the "I Pencil" story from FEE the cost of producing solar cells, wind turbines, and EV cars has a significant cost. And now the government wants us to buy more FVs than we want. They had to give Ford a big bribe to build a new plant that probably wasn't in their plans, likely because they realized the market does not exist.
